PuppySpot Breeder Advisory Board Hosts Special Guests, The American Kennel Club, to Discuss Enhanced Continuing Education for Responsible Breeders

LOS ANGELES, CA (June 13, 2018) –, the nation's most trusted service connecting dog lovers with responsible breeders, hosted the American Kennel Club (AKC®), the world's largest purebred dog registry and leading advocate for dogs, to discuss enhanced continuing education resources and opportunities to maintain the highest breeder standards for canine health and welfare. The two organizations met with some of PuppySpot's most experienced and well-regarded breeders in the United States to discuss new developments, best practices and strategies for overcoming challenges in raising healthy dogs and providing safe and loving homes for all dogs.

"As part of AKC's 130-plus years commitment to advance the health and well-being of all dogs, we are committed to improving breeder education and breeder access to canine health screenings," said David Roberts, AKC's Breeder Development Executive. "We appreciate the support from PuppySpot and for inviting us to work with them to provide health clinics and breeder education seminars."

Since its inception in 2016, PuppySpot has maintained a Breeder Advisory Board and holds annual in-person meetings as well as quarterly conference calls with its members. In 2017, PuppySpot's Breeder Advisory Board met with its Scientific Advisory Board, consisting of veterinarians, ethicists and former agricultural regulators. At the most recent 2018 meeting, AKC's experts and senior officers collaborated with breeders, allowing even greater connectivity, sharing of information and debate at the frontline of care for puppies and their parents in the pet industry.

"PuppySpot has a pivotal role in implementing best practices for puppy care, which is why we're excited to give AKC a new platform to share the organization's extensive knowledge base and unique expertise," said Jonathan Cherins, Chief Executive Officer of PuppySpot. "Our breeder partners are the best in the nation and this type of engagement with top experts helps them maintain that elite edge."
