PuppySpot Contributes to Breast Cancer Research

In addition to placing happy puppies into loving homes, our PuppySpot Gives Back program goes above and beyond by raising funds for various non-profit organizations. One of these wonderful organizations is METAvivor, a 501c-3 non-profit organization dedicated to funding research for Stage IV metastatic breast cancer (MBC).

METAvivor hosts annual fundraising events to raise funds for metastatic breast cancer (MBC) research. They are the only organization that solely funds MBC research through a scientific peer- reviewed process, and their goal is to transition MBC from a terminal illness to a controlled, chronic condition.

Dave Horowitz, PuppySpot Chief Information Officer with Stu the Shih Tzu and Be Bold and Behold guest

This year, PuppySpot donated an adorable Shih Tzu puppy named Stu to METAvivor’s Be Bold and Behold live auction event in New Jersey. Stu was hand delivered by PuppySpot’s very own Chief Information Officer, Dave Horowitz. Through this generation donation, PuppySpot was able to assist METAvivor in raising $2,000 for MBC research.

Remarkably, Stu’s recipient happened to be one of the women inflicted with MBC and was being honored at the event. The recipient’s sister also happened to be one the the event’s organizers. Unfortunately, Stu’s recipient has passed away due to her metastatic breast cancer, however, Stu has helped bring much warmth and comfort to the family who is experiencing unimaginable heartbreak.

Thank you, METAvivor, for working to make MBC a survivable illness, and for allowing PuppySpot to bring the joy of a puppy to another loving family!
