PuppySpot and the Oregon chapter of Make-A-Wish Foundation have worked together to fulfill a number of puppy wishes, so when they reached out to us to help out with a child wishing for a Beagle puppy we were ecstatic to work with them once again.
Jackson (a.k.a Jack) is a 7-year-old boy living in a constant battle with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (A.L.L.), a type of cancer that affects the bone marrow. His only wish was for a Beagle companion who would support him emotionally throughout his treatment. Jackson and his family had a big move to make from Oregon back to their hometown in Mobile, Alabama, but once they were all settled in, they welcomed Beagle puppy Jett home with the help of Make-A-Wish Alabama and Banfield Pet Hospital.
“It was a tremendous honor for PuppySpot, and for me in particular, to be able to participate in Jack’s wish for Jett. I love working with the Make-A-Wish chapters as they have meant so much to me and my family in my own life ever since they granted my family a wish when we were dealing with my sister’s cancer 30 years ago.
That smile on Jack’s face as he walked Jett around PetSmart telling everyone, from his family to the Banfield vets to the PetSmart employees to anyone else who would listen, that Jett was ‘his dog’ was priceless. It was great to get to know Jett too over the past two days as my son and I drove him to Alabama for the wish granting. Jett is going to be a great family member for Jack, who told his mom he actually wants a ‘whole pack of Beagles,” so look out world!” – Josh Kreinberg, Chief Administrative Officer, PuppySpot
