Puppies are known to increase feelings of happiness, trust, and relaxation, which is why they make for excellent companions; especially, for children battling critical illnesses. When Make-A-Wish receives a puppy wish request, they typically reach out to PuppySpot as a reliable, trusting source for their special wish requests, and we are always eager to assist!
When Make-A-Wish San Diego reached out to us, they were working on a miniature Goldendoodle wish for Alana, an 18-year-old living with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare type of cancer that forms in the soft tissue. Alana has always wanted a companion to call her own. She is excited to have a companion to go on adventures with! She already knew exactly what she wanted– a male apricot Goldendoodle, and we knew we could make it happen for her!
With all the puppy choices available, it was a tough decision for Alana to make. Eventually, she fell in love with a miniature F1B apricot Goldendoodle named Mathys. Once Alana’s decision was made, our Travel team arranged for a PuppySpot Chaperone to fly Mathys directly to Alana and her family. Before Mathys could travel home, he was scheduled for a nose-to-tail veterinary exam. After he received the all clear, Mathys and PuppySpot Chaperone Saya, made their way to San Diego!
After a long morning of travel, Mathys was finally ready to meet his new family! Alana was ecstatic to meet her new companion. The family was ready and waiting with balloons that read “Woof” and lots of goodies for Alana and Mathys (now Beau). It was definitely a day Alana and her family will cherish for years to come. Thank you, Make-A-Wish San Diego for trusting PuppySpot with another special puppy wish!
