Bichonpoo Characteristics

Bichonpoo's come from Poodle and Bichon Frise parents. You might also hear them called Bichon Poodles, Bichpoos, Poochons, and Bichon Poo as two separate words. These dogs are delightful companions who were able to inherit some of the best traits from their parents, including intelligence, affection, and high spirits. Early socialization and obedience training will ensure a well-behaved companion.

Fast Facts

  • Energy Moderate
  • Size Small
  • Trainability Responsive

Like many dogs crossbred with the Poodle, the Bichonpoo was originally bred as a companion dog for people who are allergic to animals. The Bichonpoo was also meant to be a small breed that did not suffer the same diseases as the Bichon Frise or Poodle, both of which are prone to health problems as a result of poor breeding or overbreeding. Because this is a newer breed, they can come in several varying sizes, rather than a predictable size like more established breeds.

Standing anywhere between 9-15 inches and weighing between 6 and 17 pounds, the Bichonpoo is a very portable companion. Great for apartment living, these dogs have a medium amount of energy, and if their barking habit can be quelled, they're the perfect dog to have in a small space.

Like their parents, Bichonpoos are incredibly smart and alert dogs. They’re curious, active, and fun to be around, with very distinct personalities. Knowing you’re the alpha will help them feel safe and calm. They can also be quite acrobatic and are fun to play with.

Like with any pet, be sure to take your Bichonpoo to the vet regularly, and focus especially on dental checkups. They can have crowding in their teeth and other dental issues. Taking good care of their health will keep them safe and happy for years!

How dog-friendly is Las Vegas?

A recent WalletHub study analyzed the 100 largest US cities to see which are the most pet-friendly. In their study, Las Vegas is ranked as the 4th most pet-friendly. The city scored number one overall for outdoor pet-friendliness. Plus, it ranked 32nd and 34th for pet budget and pet health and wellness, respectively.

A similar study from SmartAsset ranked Las Vegas as the 6th most pet-friendly city. The city is ranked so high because it has one of the highest numbers of dog parks per resident in the country. It also has a high ratio of pet-related establishments and a low average of rainy days during the year.

Dog parks and outdoor activities in Las Vegas

Las Vegas is one of the most pet-friendly cities, largely due to how much there is to do outdoors with your pets. The previously mentioned SmartAsset study found the city to have 3.8 dog parks per 100,000 residents, the fourth highest in the country.

Among these are over 20 off-leash dog parks where your furry friends can roam and play. Some of the most popular dog parks in the city include Barx Parx, Woofer Dog Park, Centennial Hills Dog Park, and All American Dog Park.

Life in Las Vegas with a dog

There are over 200 pet-friendly restaurants in Las Vegas, so you and your dog will always have plenty of choices when you want to get something to eat. A few of the most popular dog-friendly restaurants in the city are Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar, Big Dog’s Brewing Co., Rollin Smoke Barbeque, Griddlecakes, and Nevada Brew Works.

Las Vegas also has many other pet-friendly businesses, including pet shops, spas, and groomers. Plus, there are several dog-friendly shopping centers for you and your pooch to peruse. A great spot to enjoy with your dog is the Downtown Summerlin shopping center, where you’ll find plenty of dog-friendly shops and plenty of other pups and their owners in the outdoor areas.

As one of the most popular travel destinations in the country, it comes as no surprise that there are plenty of pet-friendly hotels in Las Vegas. If you ever have friends in town, they’ll have no shortage of places to stay with their dogs. Some of the most popular dog-friendly hotels in the city are NoMad Las Vegas, Sterling Gardens, The Retreat on Charleston Peak, Vdara Hotel & Spa, and The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
