Cava-Lon Characteristics

The Cava-lon is an adorable hybrid dog mix between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Papillon. The Cava-lon is a cheerful and playful friend to children and other animals, making them a great family companion. They’re known for their long, silky coats and will require regular brushing to keep from getting matted.

  • Energy Moderate
  • Size Small
  • Trainability

The Cava-lon are small dogs weighing up to 18 pounds and are usually black, brown, white, silver, red, or black and tan. Because of their small size, a bit of obedience training will provide you with a happy and manageable apartment companion. Early socialization is important to teach these dogs how to behave with larger dogs and other animals.

It is important to note that some dogs who weigh less than ten pounds believe they are much bigger than they actually are, and are not afraid to challenge larger dogs.  To help ensure your Cava-lon doesn’t find itself in trouble, introduce him to large dogs under close supervision and be prepared to break up any potential quarrels.  If you plan on taking your Cava-lon to a dog park, keep a constant eye on your dog; while uncommon, it's not unheard of for small dogs to be viewed as prey for untrained larger breeds.

These dogs are also well suited for apartment life because they only require a minimal amount of exercise. This can usually be accomplished through a brisk walk or 20-30 minutes of playtime.  Ensuring your Cava-lon gets enough exercise is important to prevent bad behavior within the household as well as preventing unnecessary weight gain.

Cava-lons are wonderfully playful, responsive, smart, and cheerful. A wonderful companion for anyone.
