Havamalt Characteristics

The Havamalt is a friendly, adorable hybrid mix between a Havanese and a Maltese. Loyal, caring, and intelligent, the Havamalt will respond best to obedience training and socialization early in life. Standing between 8-12 inches tall and weighing anywhere between 5-15 pounds, the Havamalt is the perfect travel-sized companion. This is a good thing because these dogs suffer from a bit of separation anxiety and love spending as much time with their people as possible. Obedience training is important to ensure good behavior while you're apart from your Havamalt.
 
These cheerful little pups get along with family members, children, and other pets, but it is important to keep an eye on them when outside. Just like other tiny dogs, they sometimes think they can take on the big guys and may pick a fight with larger dogs. Just be sure to keep an eye on them when they’re playing with other pets.
 
These dogs are considered hypoallergenic, similar to a poodle or poodle mix. However, it is still important to have them groomed regularly. Frequent brushing will also ensure their coats stay free of knots.
