Havapom Characteristics

Havapoms are aptly named – they are adorably fluffy little pom-pom-like dogs with perky ears and an almost curled tail. They’re a mix between the very fluffy Havanese and Pomeranian. Havapoms are smart, easy to train, and very affectionate. They love snuggling, being held, and playing with their families. Since the Havapom is such a small breed, they’re also great for apartment living.

Ranging from 8-11 inches at the shoulder and typically weighing between 6-13 pounds, the Havapom is the perfect travel size companion. These dogs have an intelligent and curious personality and are popular in any crowd of people. With early socialization and specific obedience training, these dogs can be trained to use "pee pads" for their entire lives, making them popular for those living in large city high-rise apartments.
 
Like many other breeds weighing less than ten pounds, Havapoms tend to think they’re much bigger and “badder” than they actually are. They may pick fights with bigger dogs, so it’s a good idea to introduce your Havapom to large dogs under close supervision and be prepared to break up any potential quarrels. With early socialization, though, Havapoms are very friendly and love playing with children, people, and other dogs. 
 
Like many small dogs, the Havapom is pre-disposed to dental issues due to the lack of space between their teeth. Taking your dog to get regular checkups and using products to keep their teeth healthy is vital in ensuring your dog's health. Havapoms typically live from 10-12 playful years.
