They’re very outgoing and energetic, but their small size and intelligence help make them a great pet even for new pet parents. The Shihpoo is a cross between the cuddly Shih-Tzu and hypoallergenic Poodle. Like most Poodle mixes, Shihpoos were bred to help people with allergies. These dogs can come with straight hair like the Shih-Tzu, curly hair like the Poodle, or a mixture. The Shihpoo also blends the best of both breeds and isn’t as prone to the health issues of purebred dogs. At the same time, you should always make sure to research your breeder before purchasing.
 
Weighing anywhere between 8-18 lbs and standing between 8-16 inches, these little dogs are commonly seen in black, white, and merle. Many experts agree that small dogs are at a higher risk for dental issues than large dogs. This is likely due to the smaller skulls and jaws, which can lead to overcrowding of the teeth.
