Bernaswiss Mountain Dog (AKA Berner) is one of the four Sennenhund-type breeds that originate from the Swiss Alps. Berners originally were used as all-purpose farm dogs. This breed is an excellent guard- and watchdog, but not aggressive. They are well-known as self-confident, alert, and good-natured dogs. This breed tends to be stubborn, so early training is very important for them. They are very intelligent, and the pet parent has to keep them entertained. Berner’s energy level is moderate; they require constant daily exercises.

Built to pull carts and work hard in central Switzerland, the Bernese Mountain Dog is believed to be more than 2,000 years old. Bernese are incredibly loving, affectionate, and devoted family pets. Their calm nature and patience are ideal around children, and they are willing and quick learners. The distinctive black, white and rust colors of the Bernese are uniform throughout the breed. Bernese Mountain Dogs thrive in larger living spaces, because of their size and moderate energy level.
Bernedoodles are a great companion dog. They have the intelligence of the Poodle breed and the charming, happy-go-lucky characteristics of the Bernese Mountain Dog. Bernedoodles enjoy spending their time playing and cuddling with their human family members, including children.
