Few states in the country are as friendly to dogs and dog owners as the great state of Missouri. From St. Louis to Kansas City, there are hundreds of fun, dog-friendly activities to get into in The Show Me State.
With thousands of adoptions each year, the Golden Retriever easily claims the title of The Most Popular Dog in Missouri but did you know that the Golden Retriever is also one of the most popular dog breeds in the world.
Characteristically gentle, intelligent, and eager to please, these lovable sweethearts were initially bred as “gun dogs” to find and retrieve game. Today, however, you’re much more likely to find them swimming in the pool or trying to fit as many tennis balls in their mouth as possible.
The Golden Retriever’s highly sociable temperament and affectionate personality make them a great decision for first-time dog owners, and dog owners with children. If you’re in the market for intelligent, eager to please and incredibly affectionate puppies for sale in Missouri, the Golden Retriever may be the breed for you.
Easy to train, loyal and remarkably intelligent, it’s easy to see why so many Golden Retrievers become service dogs, guide dogs, and therapy dogs, but did you know that Golden Retrievers are also utilized by law enforcement to sniff out narcotics, explosives and contraband?
This is because Golden Retrievers learn quickly and possess an incredible ability to not only remember smells, but also instinctively seek out those in need of rescue, assistance and empathy.
Missouri is one of the best states in the country to buy, rescue or adopt a puppy. The Golden Retriever is the most popular breed in Missouri. It’s followed closely by the German Shepherd and the French Bulldog.
It doesn't matter if you’re in Missouri to find German Shepherd puppies for sale or to take your Family on an outdoor adventure, you’ll find Missouri has more than enough dog-friendly activities to keep you busy.
Yes. According to 273.050, “No dog shall be permitted to be and remain within the limits of the state unless the owner…shall have caused such dog to be listed and the tax... paid on or before the first day of February of each year hereafter.”
“The tax on each male dog and each spayed female dog, of which the certificate of a veterinarian or the affidavit of the owner is produced, in this state shall be one dollar per year, and the tax on all other dogs in this state shall be three dollars per year, payable to the county clerk of the county in which the owner resides.”
No. As of January 2020, there are no state laws in Missouri that prohibit owners from transporting their dogs without a harness in a moving vehicle. However, for safety reasons we recommend that your dog be harnessed whenever they are in a moving vehicle.
Keep your dog secure in the back seat and avoid driving with them in your lap. If your dog doesn't like to be restrained, we recommend purchasing a crate, barrier or canine seat belts to keep them secure and out of the front seat.
It doesn't matter how big your dog is or how much they like to run, every dog needs exercise.
