The Mastiff is an ancient breed, supposedly originating in Asia, and was used as a guardian and war dog. Despite their imposing size, today's Mastiffs are incredibly kind, patient family companions. They are infinitely loyal and sweet-tempered, love to please their owners, and tend to be protective of their loved ones. These affectionate dogs typically weigh up to 200 lbs. in adulthood and, as a result, do best in larger living spaces. Mastiffs are excellent with children, are low energy, and are truly ‘gentle giants'.
