The Miniature American Shepherd is a newly recognized breed that branched off from the Australian Shepherd. This breed was developed in California in the 1960's to be a smaller, more compact version of the Aussie. They are exceptionally loyal, smart and trainable. Miniature American Shepherds love playing with children and are great travel companions.
The MAS's intelligence, loyalty, and size made them perfect travelling companions for equestrians travelling to horse shows.
This newly recognized breed by the American Kennel Club was developed in California during the late 1960's with the breeding of small, unregistered dogs that were thought to be Australian Shepherds.
