A cross between a Maltese and a Shih Tzu, the Mal-Shi is small dog that weighs 6 – 12 pounds and has a life expectancy of 12 – 14 years. Mal-Shis are susceptible to disease conditions inherited from either parent breed. With proper care and yearly vet exams, the majority of Mal-Shis will live long and healthy lives. The Mal-Shi is a small sized designer breed doesn't require a lot of space to roam and does well in apartment living. They enjoy short walks and meaningful playtime with their family. Their sweet and charming demeanor makes them a welcome addition in most family settings. Since the Mal-Shi is a small breed they need to be handled with care to prevent injuries and are not usually recommend for home with very small children unless supervised.
