Corgipoo

My puppy came sooner than estimated after initial phone call. I was very pleased with the delivery. I thought that Puppyspot did a great job with the interview and initial contact. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because contact and updates became nonexistent for about 2 weeks. I know that is when the company does the planning, but as a person who just coughed up almost 7K for a puppy, it would alleviate the anxiety by keeping in touch with things such as contact with the breeder, wh...

Corgipoo Characteristics

The Corgipoo is a popular designer breed with Corgi and Poodle parents. Like their parent breeds, they’re highly intelligent, alert, cheerful, and loyal. They’re quick to learn and also hypoallergenic, so they make good dogs for first-time owners. The Corgipoo is a small breed and does well living in small spaces or an apartment.

Fast Facts

  • Energy Moderate
  • Size Medium
  • Trainability Determined

Ranging from 10-12 inches at the shoulder and typically weighing between 12-30 pounds, the Corgipoo is the perfect size for lap snuggles and play. Despite their small size, they have lots of energy and are happiest when they can exercise and play outside with their families.

Corgipoos are generally outgoing and affectionate with other people, children, and dogs. They don’t like being alone for long periods of time and are very loyal to their families.

Like many dogs crossbred with the Poodle, Corgipoos are great for people with allergies. The Corgipoo was also meant to be a small breed that did not suffer the same diseases as the Corgi or Poodle, both of which are prone to health problems as a result of poor breeding or overbreeding.  These dogs often come in black or white coats, and while mostly hypoallergenic, they still require regular brushing.

While these dogs are often very pleasant and friendly, the herding instinct from the corgi half remains intact, and it is important to provide your Corgipoo with obedience training to ensure it behaves itself around children. Otherwise, it is likely to try and herd them, often nipping at their heels.  These dogs also require a moderate amount of exercise to ensure good behavior inside the home and will thrive with a family that enjoys playing together.

How dog-friendly is Maine?

The short answer is: Extremely dog-friendly! Maine consistently ranks in the top 10 for dog-friendly states, across several different studies. The top two studies come from ranking sites Pawsafe and Safewise.

Pawsafe’s study ranks all 50 states according to their overall safety and friendliness for pets. They rank the states according to factors like animal cruelty laws, pet-friendly accommodations, and the number of dog parks and hiking trails.

In Pawsafe study, Maine ranks as the 2nd most pet-friendly state! The state also scored well for its animal welfare laws related to abuse, neglect, fighting, or pet care standards.

Safewise ran a similar study that ranks Maine as the 10th most pet-friendly state. Averaging these two studies together puts Maine close to the very front of the pack of pet-friendly states.
