French Bulldog

Let’s face it, choosing a puppy is very stressful. Especially when you spend a large sum of money and do not see the puppy in person. I did extensive research before I decided on PuppySpot. Lola (name changed) came on time as promised. During my waiting week, I needed a lot of hand holding. The app wasn’t great so I would call on her progress. Everyone I spoke with was kind, caring and reassuring. Lola is a beautiful, smart, healthy baby girl. The breeder must have been very loving since...

French Bulldog Characteristics

French Bulldogs – or “Frenchies” – are one of the most popular small dog breeds, and it’s easy to see why! They are picture-perfect, with giant dewy eyes, stocky little bodies, and adorably large ears. They’re also suitable for apartments and city-dwellers as they only require a small amount of daily exercise. Frenchies are playful with a gentle nature. They are happy to spend all day cuddled at your feet while serving as excellent watchdogs.

  • Energy Moderate
  • Size Small
  • Trainability Responsive

French Bulldogs are a purebred dog breed that originated in England. They have smooth, shiny coats that come in white, fawn, black, grey and cream. They are moderate shedders and will require occasional grooming to stay clean.

Frenchies are known for spending their days relaxing around the house, loving nothing more than a nap with their family. As much as they love to snuggle on your lap, they are also energetic and love to play. This combo of a snuggly and playful nature make them wonderful companions.

Not a working dog, French Bulldogs have lower exercise needs than other breeds. They are more prone to heat exhaustion and can get by with a simple 15-minute walk each day.

With their front-heavy structure, Frenchies are also not the best swimmers. So you’ll want to avoid leaving them unattended around water!

French Bulldogs are also highly intelligent, but a little bit stubborn. Training them is relatively easy if you approach it with patience. They respond well to positive reinforcement and lots of treats.

French Bulldogs are small but sturdy. They have a powerful, muscular body and weigh up to 28 pounds. Frenchies grow to 11 to 13 inches in height. The breed is generally healthy and enjoys a typical lifespan of 12 to 18 years.
